Overview of the Pharmacognosy Department:

One of the core subjects of Pharmacy education is Pharmacognosy. This department is started from the establishment of Ashokrao Mane College of Pharmacy, Peth-Vadgaon. The Department of Pharmacognosy has experienced and highly qualified staff members including Professors, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professors. The Department imparts quality education to diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate students.

The Department of Pharmacognosy carryout extraction, isolation and characterization of active principle of natural products. Also, perform pharmacological screening of natural products to check biological efficacy like antioxidant, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, anticancer, antiulcer. Currently, other effects such as isolation of anticancer drugs, and nano particles from natural agents are being investigated in many plants belonging to various families.Students also perform the various research projects with herbal extract on various pharmacological activities to discover new formulations.

The faculty members are experienced, attended and presented several research articles in international conferences. Staff members have published numerous research articles in reputed scientific national, international journals some of patent published.Department of Pharmacognosy always supports to carryout research work.
